The village of Villebois

  • The village square and its monolith
  • The blazon of Villebois

The name of Villebois was famous in the whole France, and even out of the country, because of its cut stone quarries. The working finished in 1950, but the memory is still strong.

About 1100 peoples live in this small village, in the heart of the Bugey area. Situated at last foothills of Jura Mountains, Villebois is very sunny. You can either go for a walk or a ride all along the Rhone river banks created on purpose. And you will also enjoy the mountain by feet or by mountain bike thanks to the many paths and then go to the neighboring villages like Sault-Brenaz, Bénonces, Souclin and Soudon.
